A tribute to Moroccan women through memory, fashion, and legacy.
Some garments are more than fabric — they are memory, legacy, and soul. For Moroccan designer Nouhaila, fashion isn’t only about creating something new — it’s about preserving what matters.
Her featured piece is not from a new collection. It is an old Moroccan caftan passed down from her grandmother — a garment rich with history and emotion. For the shoot, Nouhaila chose to set it in the heart of the old medina, letting the timeless architecture, colors, and energy reflect the spirit of the piece.
“Every detail of old Moroccan heritage matters to me,” she shares. “From the smallest elements to the most significant ones.”
This isn’t just design — it’s devotion. Each stitch of the caftan carries the energy of her grandmother, who shaped her values, her aesthetic, and her pride in where she comes from. The garment becomes a living symbol of a woman’s strength, passed down through time.
“It’s not just a small detail — every inch of it tells the story of a Moroccan woman who inspires me every time I sit with her and learn from her.”

Nouhaila doesn’t just see this caftan as clothing — she sees it as a channel of identity. In wearing or creating traditional Moroccan garments, she believes women should feel beautiful, proud, and deeply connected to their roots.
“Every Moroccan woman — especially those who sacrificed their lives for our comfort — deserves to feel beautiful and proud.”
And if the caftan could speak, she imagines it would say:
“Wear it and feel it — feel the Moroccan identity in every corner of your childhood home.”
Nouhaila’s approach to fashion is deeply grounded. As a young Moroccan fashion designer, she feels the responsibility to protect, preserve, and pass on what so many are quick to forget.
“Being Moroccan means embracing the richness of what we already have — our culture, our values, and our principles. That’s what makes us truly confident, unique, and original.”
In a fast-changing fashion world, Nouhaila is proof that originality doesn’t always come from reinvention. Sometimes, it comes from respecting your roots — and letting them guide you forward.
