NikNik : At Bangkok Fashion Week
At the heart of Bangkok Fashion Week 2025, amid the pulse of lights, movement, and emerging talent, one name stood out — Thanik “NikNik” Junlarat, a designer from Fash26, Fashion College of Creative Industry, Srinakharinwirot University. Her work wasn’t just another collection. It was a declaration — an exploration of how beauty and strength can be forged, quite literally, from steel.
This year’s showcase gathered some of the brightest young designers across Thailand. For NikNik, it became more than an academic challenge; it was a moment to express who she truly is as a designer. “I had to choose between restyling an old piece or creating something entirely new within just two weeks,” she shared. “In the end, I chose to start from scratch.”
That decision defined her. Within days, she revisited her own creative language — modular construction and stainless steel craftsmanship — elements that have become her artistic signature. Her design embodied the fusion between technical mastery and emotional expression, using steel to sculpt the upper body and to craft accessories that symbolized power and vulnerability coexisting in balance.
“It was about connecting the sense of strength and beauty within a single silhouette,”
she reflected. And that connection could be felt — every polished line and reflective surface carried her story.
But behind the beauty was pressure — only two weeks to bring the concept to life. For many, that might have been a limitation. For NikNik, it became fuel. “It taught me that true creativity often emerges when you are forced to trust your instincts,” she said.This project marked a powerful evolution for her — not only technically, but personally. “It reflects my identity as someone fascinated by architectural construction and material systems,” she explained. “It’s about transforming rigidity into elegance.”
Her process was methodical yet intuitive. It began with sketches exploring the relationship between the human body and structural form — where the body becomes both muse and mechanism. Piece by piece, she engineered the concept into a living sculpture, shaping stainless steel into wearable art. “Watching the piece slowly take shape was both stressful and fulfilling,” she said. “It was the moment I truly felt that fashion is the engineering of beauty.”

surrounded by designers radiating creativity, she found herself reenergized by the collective passion. “The energy there was electric,” she said. “I wanted my work to be more than just clothing — I wanted it to be an experience.” That experience was clear: a harmony of form, weight, and soul. Material was another. “Working with stainless steel is not easy,” she admitted. “It’s demanding and unyielding. The emotional resonance of her work lies in what she calls the idea of “beautiful pain.” “I want the audience to feel that beauty doesn’t come from perfection,” she said. “It comes from endurance, courage, and self-expression.”And that message transcends fashion. “Every detail in this collection carries a story of time, patience, and growth,” she shared. “I want people to see that strength and tenderness can coexist gracefully — just like the duality that defines both art and the human spirit.”For NikNik, this project was more than a runway presentation.
